48 Stunden Neukölln is Berlin's largest independent art festival, bringing together more than a thousand artists across galleries, studios, public spaces, cafés, and unconventional venues throughout the Neukölln district.

The 2026 edition explored the dynamic relationship between inside and outside, proposing borders not as fixed divisions but as shifting spaces of negotiation.

Alone in a Foreign Land / Gurbet elde bir başına

Created in response to this theme, Alone in a Foreign Land draws on the Turkish expression "Gurbet elde bir başına" to explore the emotional condition of living between places, cultures, and identities. Accompanied by a participatory installation using masks, visitors were invited to reflect on the question:

Which version of yourself belongs here?

The interactive element encouraged viewers to become active participants, transforming the encounter into a reflection on belonging, adaptation, and authenticity. Through this dialogue, the work explored how identity is continuously negotiated rather than fixed.
